Frappato di Sicilia

Catch of the Day – A refreshing and fruity Mandarossa Frappato from Capt.Caruana. This wine is as approachable as a dolphin and as rare as a white tiger. It is mainly grown in Sicily and only 2,000 acres are grown worldwide.

It is dry and medium in alcohol, but it is as delicate as a rose petal. It is fruity, medium in acidity, light bodied and low to medium in tannin. Its dominant red fruit flavours are balanced by spicy aromas such as cloves and white pepper. Medium finish but unforgettable.

Challenging the stereotype that fish should be paired with white wines, we paired this beauty with Tuna steak. The tuna was pan seared and cooked together with Sicilian olives, lemon, sun-kissed tomatoes and capers. The steak was topped with homemade spinach and artichoke cream.

Basically, the wine felt at home, and they married like Cinderella and her Prince.

P.S you can even have this wine with good company as an aperitivo. Salute!
